How the daily puzzle works
Each day this page shows one 9x9 sudoku, the same one for everyone who visits. The date and the puzzle ID are printed with the grid, so you can compare notes with a friend or settle an argument about who finished first. The puzzle prints one per page in large print, with the solution on the second page. On screen the solution stays hidden under Show answer until you want it.
The weekly rhythm
Difficulty follows the week, the way newspaper puzzles do. Monday and Tuesday are easy, with naked singles only. Wednesday to Friday are medium, which brings in hidden singles, pairs and box-line eliminations. Saturday and Sunday are hard: X-Wings, triples and XY-Wings, with time to spare.
If today’s level is not what you are after, the easy, medium and hard pages each print a fresh set of four at any time.

Missed a day?
Right now the daily puzzle is not archived, so yesterday’s puzzle leaves the page when today’s arrives. If you printed it and lost the answer page, email us the puzzle ID and we will reply with the solution. An archive is something we would like to add.
Every puzzle verified
Like everything on this site, the daily puzzle is generated by our engine, checked for exactly one solution by one solver and solved by a second solver using human techniques to confirm its level. A Saturday puzzle comes from the same pool as the hard page, and a Monday puzzle from the same pool as the easy page. The daily puzzle is never secretly harder than its label.
