Why large print
A newspaper sudoku has squares about 6 mm across, and most printable sheets are not much bigger. Large print sudoku fixes that. On this page each puzzle fills a whole sheet of A4 or Letter paper: the grid is 18 cm wide, every square is 2 cm, and the given digits are printed bold at a 12 mm type size, about 9 mm tall on paper. There is room to write a digit with a thick pen, or to pencil small candidates in a corner, and the grid can be read at arm’s length.
The answer key is large too. Instead of the six-to-a-page answer grids on the 9x9 pages, the answers here print two to a page with squares of about 12 mm, so checking does not need a magnifier.
Who these are for
- Seniors who enjoy sudoku but not the strain of newspaper-sized grids.
- People with low vision, macular degeneration or cataracts, and anyone solving in poor light.
- Care homes, day centres and activity coordinators who want a puzzle that works for a whole group.
- Anyone who likes to solve with a marker pen and plenty of room.
Levels
Easy is the default. Every easy puzzle can be solved one obvious square at a time, with at least 38 of the 81 squares given, so there is always a next move and you do not need pencil marks.
Medium adds hidden singles, pairs and box-line eliminations, with at least 30 squares given. Hard needs at least one X-Wing, Swordfish, XY-Wing or triple somewhere. None of the puzzles on this site needs a guess.
Every puzzle is graded by the techniques it needs, not by counting clues, and checked by two independent solvers to have exactly one solution.
Printing tips
The page shows two puzzles by default, each on its own sheet, with one answer page after them. Choose 1, 2, 4 or 6 puzzles with the Puzzles control: four puzzles print as four pages plus two answer pages. Set your print dialog to 100 percent scale rather than “fit to page”, which can shrink the grid, and check that the paper size matches the one selected here. The lines are black on white with no shading, so draft quality is fine.

Solving on a big grid
- Start with the digit that appears most often on the grid and find the boxes where it is still missing. On an easy puzzle it usually has only one place to go.
- Work box by box rather than row by row; a box is a compact shape that is easy to take in at a glance.
- The large squares leave room for small candidate digits in a corner. Write them lightly and cross them out as you go.
