In short
freeprintablesudoku.com has no accounts, no sign-up forms and no comment sections. The puzzle sheets are generated when the site is built; new 9x9 puzzles and all PDFs are generated inside your browser, samurai puzzles are downloaded from a prepared stock when you ask for them, and nothing you print is uploaded. We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to see how the site is used; in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland both work without cookies. The site may show advertising served by Google, which has its own privacy practices described below.
What we collect
Server logs. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information about each request, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare’s handling of this data is described in its own privacy policy.
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4, a Google service, to count visits and learn which pages and buttons are used. It records the pages you open; whether you press Print, Download PDF or New puzzles, together with the options chosen (level, grid size, number of sheets, puzzles per page, paper size and answer key); and general information about your device, browser and approximate location, which Google works out from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, it sets first-party cookies named _ga and ga followed by an ID, which let it recognise a returning browser. In those three regions the site tells Google Analytics not to read or write analytics cookies, so it receives only cookieless signals that cannot recognise your browser on a later visit. We look at the results in aggregate to decide what to improve. You can block Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out browser add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) or your browser’s privacy settings, and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Microsoft Clarity. We also use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use the pages: where people click and tap, how far they scroll and which controls they use. Clarity shows this to us as heatmaps and as replays of individual visits. The puzzle sheets, answer keys and puzzle data are masked, so their contents are never sent to Clarity. It tells browsers apart by pseudonymous IDs, not by name. Outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Clarity may set first-party cookies named _clck and _clsk, and Microsoft cookies such as MUID. In those three regions Clarity sets no cookies without consent, and this site does not ask for consent, so no Clarity cookies are set there. Microsoft may also use what Clarity collects for its own purposes, including advertising; the Microsoft Privacy Statement (https://www.microsoft.com/privacy/privacystatement) explains how.
Visit counts. We may also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It does not use cookies, does not store personal information and does not track you across other sites.
Settings in your browser. When you choose a paper size, the choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so you do not have to pick it again, and you can clear it through your browser settings. Layout choices such as the number of puzzles per page may also appear in the page address, for example ?per=6. Like any address you visit, that is sent to our host when the page loads, and Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity receive it as part of the page address. It contains no personal information.
Email. If you write to us, we keep your message and address for as long as needed to reply and handle the request.
Apart from an email you choose to send us and the analytics described above, we do not collect names, accounts, payment details or other personal information.
Advertising
We may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to show ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites, and to measure them. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google’s Ads Settings (https://adssettings.google.com) and read how Google uses data from partner sites at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Further opt-out options are available at https://www.aboutads.info/choices and, in Europe, https://www.youronlinechoices.eu.
If we show ads to visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent prompt will appear before any advertising cookies are set, and you will be able to change your choice at any time.
Puzzles and PDFs
The sets printed on each page are generated once a day when the site is rebuilt. New 9x9 puzzles and PDFs are generated on your device; pressing New puzzles on the samurai page fetches a small file of ready-made puzzles from our host, like any other page asset. We do not receive the puzzles you print.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Parents and teachers are welcome to print puzzles for children to use.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to its processing. Since we hold almost none, the practical answer is usually simple: email us and we will help. We do not sell personal information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new effective date.
